Find answers to commonly asked questions on assignments and classrooms.

Who has access to create assignments?

Only verified educators who have proven their educator status through Adobe’s quick and easy verification process can create and invite students to access assignments in Adobe Express.

Who can manage assignments?

Only educators and school administrators can assign, modify, and remove assignments from the Classrooms they manage.

What are the top features of Assignments for educators and students?

Educators can assign any project to an individual student or an entire class in just a few ways.

  • Students and educators can collaborate on an assignment within Adobe Express. The educators can leave feedback as comments, and students can respond and ask questions, making it easy to exchange ideas and information promptly.
  • Students can collaborate on assignments. Multiple students can work on assignments together. Students can get feedback and ideas through peer comments, helping them practice important communication and collaboration skills.
  • Educators can see student progress on assignments from inside Adobe Express, allowing educators to reach out to students who need extra support to stay on track.

How can educators add students to their Adobe Express classrooms?

Educators can manually add students using Google Classroom import, invite by email, class code, or link.

How does Automatic rostering work?

If a teacher’s IT admin sets up Clever or Classlink roster sync, educators who log in will see their classes automatically rostered in Adobe Express.

How do Assignments work with Canvas and Google Classroom integrations?

Creating and turning in an assignment will always work with a class’s LMS because:

  1. Every assignment generates a shareable link, and
  2. Students can download or get a link for their finished work.

Adobe Express Assignments functionality does not work perfectly with the Google Classroom add-on or Canvas external tool. If a teacher creates an assignment within Express, they won’t have an easy way to surface it via the add-on or external tool.

How do Assignments support grading workflows?

Adobe Express assignments functionality is compatible with all educators’ grading workflows, but there are no plans to store grades inside Adobe Express. If a teacher prefers to view completed student work inside their LMS, they’ll instruct their students to Turn in to Google Classroom or download or generate a link to paste into LMS.

Can this be used for group project assignments?

Yes, but not perfectly. Educators can create a normal assignment, then instruct one student from each group to start assignment and invite group members.

If students access their assignments from different devices or entry points (LMS, Adobe Express classroom, assignment link), will their previous work get saved?

Yes, student work is always preserved in an assignment. If students select the assignment link from their LMS to start the assignment and later access it directly from the Classrooms tab in Adobe Express, they’ll see the option to continue the assignment.

Can a teacher schedule an Assignment?

No. Educators can create draft assignments and assign them when they are ready to share with students.
