Adobe Acrobat for WhatsApp lets you open and work with PDFs shared on WhatsApp directly in Acrobat. You can edit, manage, and share PDFs without switching between apps. You can:
- Open and view PDFs directly in WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop for Windows
- Edit PDFs shared on WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop for Windows
- Share PDFs back to WhatsApp as links or copies
- Use Send to WhatsApp for quick sharing
This feature is available worldwide in all supported languages. It is available to:
- New Acrobat users on the free version
- Signed-in Acrobat users with free or paid plans
- WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop for Windows users with standard or business accounts
Supported platforms:
- WhatsApp Web on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge
- WhatsApp Desktop on Windows only
This feature is not supported on WhatsApp Desktop (macOS), WhatsApp Mobile, or the WhatsApp Business API.
You’ll need the following, depending on how you access WhatsApp:
- WhatsApp Web: Use Chrome or Edge browser and log in with your WhatsApp account.
- WhatsApp Desktop for Windows: Install WhatsApp Desktop for Windows and sign in with your WhatsApp account.
You can view PDFs and use basic tools for free. Editing features require a paid Acrobat subscription. If you try to edit without a subscription, Acrobat prompts you to sign in or upgrade.
Ensure you're on a supported platform. This functionality is being rolled out in phases and is currently available only to a limited set of users. If you don’t see the Acrobat features within WhatsApp yet, you’ll get access as the rollout expands.
Sharing PDF copies to WhatsApp is supported only through the Send to WhatsApp flow when the file originates from WhatsApp. Direct copy sharing isn’t currently supported.
Yes, PDFs remain associated with your Acrobat session and WhatsApp conversation. Password-protected files retain their security restrictions.
Make sure the PDF is opened in WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop for Windows. If the option still doesn’t appear, refresh your browser or relaunch the app and try again.
Check whether pop‑ups are blocked in your browser, as this can prevent Acrobat from opening.
