If you have an all-in-one printer (with both printer and scanner), make sure that you select the printer when printing. To avoid confusion, rename your printer or scanner. The next time you print, you can more easily identify which device is the printer in the Select Printer pop-up menu.

How to get borderless prints

Not all printers have the option to create borderless prints. Check the documentation of your printer or review the following steps to see if borderless printing is supported. In Photoshop Elements Editor (PSE), launch the Print dialog from File > Print, and then select your printer.

How to change and customize print size for your prints

1. Choose File > Print.
2. Select Custom from the Select Print Size pop-up menu.
3. In the dialog box that opens, enter a custom value for your print size. You can access this same dialog by clicking More Options in the Print dialog box.
4. If you want to choose your customized size before launching the print dialog, then choose Image > Resize > Image size. Alternately, press Alt + Ctrl/Cmd + I, and then adjust the size.

Image is cropped/cut off from sides when printed

Every camera has a default aspect ratio or ratio of height to width with which images are taken.

For example: If your print size is 4x6 (3:2 ratio) and your image size is 5x7 (7:5 ratio), the ratios are not the same. When you print with Photoshop Elements and have Crop To Fit selected, your image is cropped on its longer edge (equally on each side).

Do one of the following:

• Use the Crop tool in Photoshop Elements Editor and select the exact ratio you intend to print with. Crop out the unwanted or less important parts of image.
• Deselect Crop To Fit.

How to get your image printed on full paper

ICC profile errors (for example, ICC profile not found, ICC profile is corrupted or not matched)

Most ICC profiles are installed while you install Printer drivers. However, when ICC profiles are missing or corrupted, you can download ICC profiles from the manufacturer’s website.

Restart Photoshop Elements, and the profile is ready for use.

Photo package doesn't fill the entire print area, or there's white space within the print zone? 

Use Crop To Fit to force each photo to fill the entire print area. This option scales the photo to fill an entire picture package print zone. It doesn't print portions of the photo that do not fit in the print zone. 

Print Preview screen shows no gaps between images, or shows gaps, but does not print the same. Or, a vertical black line appears in print preview, but does not print.

This issue can be minimized with a higher resolution display, but could always be present for certain layouts. The black line doesn't print. 

Caption, Date, and Filename information is cut off when chosen to print with the photo

Text for each photo is truncated if it exceeds the width of the image. Also, in some cases, the text in the preview and the printed page can differ slightly. Make sure that borderless printing is not turned on in your printer settings. Borderless printing scales the entire print area larger, creating a mismatch between the caption placement (if selected) and the printed output. 

Caption, Date, and Filename information doesn't automatically rotate when the image is rotated in the layout

The metadata printed with the photo always appears in the same position on the page, regardless of the orientation of the photo associated with it. 

Controls for the Epson printer Easy Print Module don't appear in the Print dialog box

The Epson EasyPrint Module has controls for borderless printing, media type, paper size, and paper orientation. To see them in the Print dialog box, be sure to install the latest version of your printer’s software. Visit the Epson EasyPrint website for details. When you use one of the embedded Easy Print Module printer controls, the ink color setting resets to Color

Automatic adjustments that the printer driver offers for fixing red eye and contrast, and for enhancing digital flash don't work in Photoshop Elements

Printer driver adjustments are not supported when images have to be scaled to a different size on printout. Use the Photoshop Elements Editor for those adjustments. 

Crop marks don't appear on photos that fill the entire page

Crop marks appear only if the image is smaller than the printable area. 

When I select CanoScan 8400F in the Photo Downloader, I see a “Connecting to Device…Wait” message, but nothing happens. Why is that? 

Click the Scan Gear icon in the taskbar to bring it to the front. Don't use the Photo Downloader to access your scanner. Choose File > Get Photos > From Scanner in the Photoshop Elements Organizer instead.
