Issue
A log file you create after a failed CS5 installation contains a FATAL ERROR such as the following:
FATAL ERROR: Cannot create extract assets at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\adobeTemp\{0D067D13-C3D7-4EA6-B346-740CD91FD547}' from zip file 'C:\Users\[user name]\Desktop\Adobe CS5 Design Standard\Adobe CS5\payloads\AdobeBridge4-mul\Assets1_1.zip'
The contents of the source ZIP file referenced in the FATAL ERROR is likely corrupted.
Solution 1: Verify that you have full access to the install location.
Close out of all Adobe applications. Follow the operating system-specific Permission Reset Instructions below to modify permissions to the following folder:
Note: This solution requires administrative privileges on your computer. On Windows XP, make sure that you are logged in using an administrative account. On Windows 7 and Vista, provide administrative credentials.
On Windows XP Professional

Right-click your target installation folder and choose Properties.

In the Attributes section, deselect the Read-Only option.

Click Apply, and then click OK to close the Confirm Attribute Changes dialog box.

Click the Security tab.

Make certain that Administrators and System are listed and permissions for security are set to Full Control.

Click Advanced.
-
Select the Replace Permission Entries On All Child Objects With Entries Shown Here That Apply To Child Objects option.

Click the Owner tab.

Select Administrators.
-
Select the Replace Owner On Subcontainers and Objects option.

Click OK, and then click Yes in the Security dialog box.

1Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

Launch your Adobe application.
On Windows Vista or Windows 7

Right-click the target folder, and then choose Properties.

In the Attributes section, deselect the Read-Only option.

Click the Security tab.

Make certain that Administrators and System are listed and permissions for security are set to Full Control. If not, do the following:

Click Edit.

If the User Account Control (UAC) elevation prompt appears, then follow the instructions to accept it.

Make the necessary changes.

Click Advanced.

Click the Owner tab.
-
Click Edit, and then accept the UAC elevation prompt if it appears.

In the Change Owners Section, click Administrators.

Select the Replace Owner On Subcontainers and Objects option.

Click Apply and click Permissions tab.

Click Edit, and then accept the UAC elevation prompt if it appears.

Click OK, and then click OK in the Windows Security dialog box.

Launch your Adobe application.
Solution 2: Select another install location
Restart the installation, but choose the standard install location if you had previously chosen a custom location, or try a new location, such as C:\Adobe CS5.
Solution 3: Download a new instance of the installer
For example. you can download the trial version installer. The trial acts as a standard retail version when you serialize it with the serial number that came with your product purchase. Reinstall using this new installer media.
