Colorize

This filter comes with refinement controls in the form of slider bars to help you tweak the intensity of the effects. 

With the August 2022 Photoshop release, the Harmonization neural filter has been updated to ensure users get optimum harmonized results in their workflows.  

Landscape Mixer

The Landscape Mixer is a super-creative and handy tool for professionals and concept artists when they need to toy with backgrounds in landscape images, design whimsical scenes, or create visually powerful composite landscape images.

Use the updated Landscape Mixer neural filter to form new blended images by combining together input and reference images. Toggle to avail of the given presets or create your custom images. 

This AI-enabled neural filter is trained to look at a reference image and apply the style to an original image to fashion a breathtaking visual. 

Depth Blur

The Depth Blur filter creates environmental depth in an image to feature a foreground or background object. You can also use this to add haze around your subject and adjust the temperature of the surroundings to make it warmer or cooler. 

When using the Depth Blur filter with any other filter, the progress dialog might not appear until the end of the processing of the image.

Color Transfer

Use the Color Transfer neural filter to take the color palette from a reference image and apply it to the color palette of your image.

This filter comes with its own slider bars to help you tweak the brightness, saturation, luminescence, and color settings of your image. Choose from the given preset images or create your custom from a reference image of your choice.

Frequently asked questions about Neural Filters

What operating systems are required to use Neural Filters?

Neural Filters will run on the following operating systems:

macOS: All filters will be available on macOS starting with 10.15. 

Windows: All Win 10 versions and later support Neural Filters.

Do I need to download the filters locally or do some filters work in the cloud?

Most of the filters work locally, so you need to download them before you can use them.  

Some filters, such as Smart Portrait (Beta) and Depth Blur (Beta), process some operations in the cloud. Internet connectivity is required to fully benefit from the filters.

How can I update my filters?

We are continuously working to improve the performance of the machine learning models that the filters are based on. When updates become available Photoshop will request that you update your filters.

How large are the filter downloads?

They range from less than 1 MB (Skin Smoothing) to more than 650 MB (Style Transfers). Some filters are based on smaller machine learning models, while others on bigger ones. However, we are continuously working to optimize the sizes of each model.

Do the filters use the GPU or CPU?

Each filter will first try using your local computer's GPU. If your computer doesn’t have a performance GPU, the filters will default to the CPU. A high-performance GPU is not required.

Can I delete a filter from my local machine?

Yes. You can access the filters at the following locations. Each subfolder contains one model.

• macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/UXP/PluginsStorage/PHSP/23/Internal/com.adobe.nfp.gallery/PluginData 
• Windows: %appdata%\Roaming\Adobe\UXP\PluginsStorage\PHSP\23\Internal\com.adobe.nfp.gallery\PluginData
  

Is Adobe collecting my information? What type of information?

• Adobe collects anonymous behavioral data (clicks, likes, slider drags)
• Adobe collects images anonymously when you include them in your feedback, and will not associate these images with a person or user
• Adobe collects data for the purpose of optimizing the machine learning models to generate better results

How is Adobe handling inclusivity and biases?

Since the gallery is used mostly on portraits, and the filters are based on new technology, unforeseen results can occur with respect to inclusivity and biases. Adobe is committed to ensuring inclusivity and equity. If you experience any biased results, please contact us using the feedback mechanism.

We are constantly working on improving the technology behind the filters to reduce the number of biased or undesirable results to zero, and have a process in place to handle such experiences in real time, should they occur.
