Using the Installation Verification Sample (IVS) application

Note:

The steps to install and use Mobile Forms IVS described in this article are updated for LiveCycle ES4 Service Pack 1. If you are on the LiveCycle ES4 base release, follow the steps described in Key Distinctions between LiveCycle ES4 and Service pack 1.

The Mobile Forms Installation Verification Sample (IVS) application is a utility to verify installation of the Mobile Forms service, and how it renders forms.

The IVS application uploads the XFA-based form template using a desktop browser to a server and renders these uploaded templates in a browser of your choice. You can render/view the uploaded templates on a mobile device but uploading of templates is limited to a desktop browser. Use the following instructions to configure and use the IVS application:

Set up the Mobile Forms IVS application

The IVS application, adobe-forms-ivs-pkg-<version>.zip, is delivered along with the LiveCycle installer. The default location of the application is the [LiveCycle_root]/deploy/crx/ folder.

Install the IVS application

  1. Access the CRX console at http://[host]:[port]/lc/crx/explorer/index.jsp.
  2. Click Package Manager.
  3. In the Package Manager, navigate to the adobe-forms-ivs-pkg.zip file.
  4. Click Install.
Note:

Do not deploy the IVS package to a production environment.

Transform XFA-based forms to HTML5 forms

  1. Open http://[host]:[port]/lc/MobileFormsIVS on your desktop where the forms created using Designer are saved.

  2. In the folder field, specify the name of the folder that you want to use for storing the XFA-based forms on the application server.

  3. To select the XFA form or the XML data document, click Browse, select an XFA-based form (.xdp) for transformation or data document (.xml), and click Open.

  4. To upload an XFA form or a data file, click Upload File & List Existing Forms. A list of the available XFA forms and Data Files appears in the corresponding list boxes.

  5. To render a form as HTML, select the XFA form and the Data File (optional), select the default profile (HTML form), and click Render Form. The rendered form appears in the adjacent tab of the browser.

    Note:

Once the forms are uploaded on the server from a desktop machine, IVS can also be used to render these forms on supported mobile devices.

  6. To render a form as PDF, select the XFA form and the Data File (optional), select the PDF Form profile, and click Render Form.

  7. If you have created a custom profile, and want to render the forms with it, select custom in the profile dropdown and provide the profile name.
