Troubleshooting & help

You can download your app from the Creative Cloud website. If prompted, sign in to your Adobe account, then click either Download or Install for your app. For more information, see Download your Creative Cloud apps.

For solutions to a "failed to install" error, see Error: "Failed to install" Creative Cloud desktop app. To resolve other download, installation, and update issues, see this download and install troubleshooting guide.

Yes! You can download trial versions of any Creative Cloud app, including Photoshop, from the Creative Cloud apps catalog. You'll need to sign in with an Adobe ID and password to download a trial. For detailed instructions, see Download and install a Creative Cloud trial.

Read these simple solutions to common Adobe ID and sign in issues to regain access to your account.

You can install Substance 3D Stager and other Creative Cloud apps on up to two computers. If you want to install it on a third computer, you must deactivate it on one of your previous machines. Learn more about activating and deactivating Creative Cloud apps.

Sign in to your Adobe account. Then click Change for Current password and follow the onscreen instructions. Forgot your password? Learn how to reset and change it.

In Substance 3D Stager you can assemble 3D scenes by staging models, materials, lights, and cameras in a virtual world. You can also create imagery for branding, apparel, interior design, character art, environmental art, or graphic art and 3D illustration.

Adobe Dimension and Adobe Substance 3D Stager share many features but also have a few important differences. For a full rundown of the features of each, see the comparison here.

Substance 3D Stager is an assembly app which focuses on aggregating content from other 2D and 3D apps to build scenes. Stager has rich tools for layout, texturing, lighting, framing, and rendering. It also has light tools for creation and compositing but does not specialize in those topics.

See here a short list of the most common file formats:

  • Models: FBX, OBJ, CAD, USDZ/C, GLF/GLB
  • Materials: SBSAR, MDL (Adobe Standard Material only), MTL
  • Lights: EXR, HDRI, SIBL
  • Images: PSD, AI, JPG, PNG, EXR, TGA

See the full list of supported file formats for more information.

Hardware has significant impact on performance and capabilities when working with 3D.

We recommend working with a dedicated graphics card, modern multi-core CPU, and high memory device. Pro end or gaming laptops will work well, but limit the complexity of the scenes you can create. Desktop devices provide the best experience and capability to create large scenes.

See the system requirements for full recommendations.

This is usually caused by unsupported graphics situations.

  • Check if you are above the minimum system requirements.
  • Update your video card drivers (Windows).
  • Unplug secondary monitors.
  • Unplug external GPUs.

Poor UVs are generally the cause of these issues.

Choose Object > Generate UVs to have Dimension automatically replace the current UVs with new generated UVs. This will solve some issues, such as overlapping and missing UVs. If generating UVs does not solve the issue, it may have to be fixed in a dedicated modeling or texturing application.

The total quality of a 3D output has several dependencies.

First, the resolution of the images used for your texture or decal.
Second, your models UVs, which are the way the model flattens into 2D space for images to map onto the surface.
And finally, your output size (the resolution the image will render at).
Note: Vector formats like AI and SVG will rasterize at their current size on import.

To improve the quality of your images, you can:

  • Check the size of original vector files (AI/SVG) and use a large enough size.
  • Choose Object > Export UVs to check the UVs of your object. The area you are applying a graphic to may not have enough UV resolution. In this case, you may have to manually UV your object in a modeling application.
  • Check the resolution of your texture or decal compared to your output size. If you are rendering at large resolution but using small textures, that will lead to blurry renders.

This is a known issue that we are currently working with AMD to fix. Other AMD GPUs should work correctly.

Select the object. Use the menu Camera > Frame Selection to move the camera to the objects position.

If the object is still not visible, it may have incorrect normals or another geometry issue, which must be fixed in a modeling application.
