Learn about the new features and enhancements in the April 2022 release of XD.

New Features in Adobe XD 50.0

The April 2022 release of XD has the following features:

Use group paths for asset organization

Quickly organize asset groups and subgroups in the Document Assets panel path view using forward slashes (/). If an old document has asset names containing slashes, when you open it in XD 50, you get a prompt to convert the slashes into new nesting levels in the group hierarchy, or replace the slashes with a dash (—) to retain the hierarchy.

Also, you can now rename main components and group them in the Layers panel. When you update a component name or group it in the Layers panel, it is reflected in the Document Assets panel.

Use path view to organize assets

To learn more about organizing assets using groups, see Organize assets into groups and subgroups.

Fix broken library links easily

If any Creative Cloud library links to your document assets panel are broken, when you click them, you get a summary of the underlying reasons for the broken links along with instructions to resolve them.

Design rich animations using Lottie

Lottie is an open-source file format and library that can natively render animations created in Adobe After Effects on a website or on a mobile app. Lottie files are smaller in size compared to animated GIFs and PNGs. If you are a developer, you can reuse Lottie in your code.

After you import a Lottie file from your device, you can customize playback behavior, and add interactivity. You can preview the animation on your desktop, mobile device, or a browser using the shared link.

Better export experience for design assets

The Designed at option for exporting assets as JPGs and PNGs has been removed, and now Export size replaces Export for. This change provides more granular export options, as now you can specify a custom export size from 0.1x to 10x.

JPGs are no longer downsized when importing them into XD.
