Adding and editing text is another important way to enhance your composites in Photoshop on the web. You can create a type layer, edit the text and attributes, and apply layer commands.
Access the Type tool
To access the Type tool, perform any of the following steps:
- From the toolbar, select the Type tool icon. Press and drag to create a text container on the canvas.
- Press ‘T’ using your keyboard to select the Type tool
You can experiment with the type of font, color, size, and spacing attributes to obtain the desired results.
Create a Type Layer
A type layer is automatically created when you create point or paragraph text. A badge visible over the type layer thumbnail helps you distinguish the type layer from other layers in the layers panel.
Point Text
Use point text to add a few words, like a heading or title, to your document in Photoshop on the web.
To add point text, follow the given steps:

Some sample text appears surrounded by a bounding box by default as the type layer gets created. Select anywhere inside the bounding box and start typing your desired text.

Use the + icon visible over the text bounding box to move your type layer around your canvas.

In the Layer Properties panel, you can modify Text, Paragraph, and overall Appearance. Also, you can imply various effects like Stroke, Drop shadow, Color overlay, Outer glow, Satin, etc.

Select Done to save your edits to the type layer. Select Cancel to exit the Type mode.
Paragraph Text
Use paragraph text to add a paragraph of text to your document. Select and drag the cursor on the canvas to create a bounding box in which you can type your paragraph. This helps you efficiently edit and align the paragraph later.
To add paragraph text, follow the given steps:

Select the Type tool from the toolbar.

Select and drag the pointer on the canvas to create a bounding box in which you can type your text paragraph. As you create a paragraph, you enter the Type mode automatically.

You can view sample text inside the bounding box. Select anywhere inside the bounding box and start typing your desired text.

Use the + icon visible over the text bounding box to move your type layer around your canvas.

In the Layer Properties panel, you can modify – Text, Font Style, Paragraph, and overall Appearance. Also, you can imply various effects like Stroke, Drop shadow, Color overlay, Outer glow, Satin, etc.

Edit Text using the Type tool
In the Layer Properties panel, you can edit and modify various attributes of your active text layer.
Text
Under Text, select the font type and font style fields to view the drop-down list and select the desired option.
Line and character spacing: You can adjust the line and character spacing in your text by manually typing in the desired Font size, Tracking, Leading, Kerning, and Baseline shift.
Character formatting: You can also play around with character formatting options - All caps, Small caps, Superscript, Subscript, Underline text, and Strikethrough.
Paragraph
Under Paragraph, you can select a suitable option to align and justify your text.
Appearance
Under Appearance, you can set a color for your text from the color box.
Effects
Select Add effect to explore different types of effects available within the drop-down list that will help you to enhance the text.
Work with Styles and Presets for Type Tool
You can use different varieties of styles, and predefined presets available within the Type tool collections panel to enhance the overall look and feel of your text.
