Identify and select the image where you want to edit or delete text.
Learn how to edit or delete text within any image added to the canvas, all while preserving the integrity of the original image.
You can edit or remove text directly within any image on your Boards canvas without impacting the rest of the composition. With Edit text in image, you can quickly update image messaging, correct typos, or adapt designs for different needs.
You can use this feature with images on the Boards canvas that you’ve uploaded from your device or generated with Firefly or partner models.
- Before you begin, create a board and add or generate visuals, such as images, to your canvas.
- Before editing the text, verify that your image contains clear, horizontal text in Latin characters. There are limitations when editing images with stylized fonts, rotated text, or multiple overlapping text elements.
Select Edit, then choose Edit text in image.
From the model dropdown menu, select one of the currently supported Adobe or partner models:
- Adobe Firefly Image 5
- FLUX.1 Kontext [pro]
Firefly detects text on the same baseline and highlights it as a single editable line.
Make your edits in the text box.
- To edit, modify the text directly.
- To delete, remove any part of the detected text.
To apply your changes, either press Return (macOS) / Enter (Windows) while editing the text, or select the Generate button.
Both actions will trigger image generation with your updated or deleted text.
Watch for the animated progress overlay on the canvas, indicating that the generation is in progress.
Edit text in image has limitations with certain text formats and styles:
- Emojis and non-Latin character sets aren't supported
- Skewed, rotated, or heavily stylized (3D) text may not be detected
- Text with significantly different font sizes from the original may not process correctly
