Why am I being asked to purchase a license for fonts in Adobe Fonts?

If you are contacted by a foundry asking you to purchase a license for past use of a font that is available in the Adobe Fonts library, it may be due to the following:

The font is displayed on your website without properly using the embed code provided by Adobe.

See:  https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using//webfont-licensing.html and https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/font-licensing.html#web-site

The font has been embedded in a mobile application, which isn't permitted by the Adobe Fonts service.

See: https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/font-licensing.html#web-app and https://helpx.adobe.com/fonts/using/font-licensing.html#act-app

Although our Terms of Use permit both personal and commercial use generally, not every specific use case is allowed. In some cases, a foundry partner may deem your use of their fonts to be unlicensed and contact you to resolve the issue. If you have been contacted and have questions for Adobe about whether your use is licensed use of the Adobe Fonts service, please email font-misuse@adobe.com.
