Apps that run using Rosetta 2

If you're on Mac computers with Apple silicon, you can install the following apps using Rosetta 2 technology. The apps may initially take longer to open while Rosetta 2 translates them for use in your Mac computer.

     Adobe Captivate 11.8.2

  Adobe Dimension

  Substance 3D Stager

Note: When deploying apps for an enterprise or when using stand-alone installers, ensure that Rosetta 2 has already been installed on user machines.

How can I install Rosetta 2?

You can install Rosetta 2 by launching any installed Intel-based app on your Mac computers with Apple silicon. Alternatively, you can open Terminal and run the following command:

  • If you have root permission: /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta
  • If you don't have root permission:/usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

Where can I download my app?

You can download these apps on Mac computers with Apple silicon directly from creativecloud.adobe.com/apps. The Creative Cloud desktop app automatically installs with your app.

Can I install plug-ins for Creative Cloud apps on Mac computers with Apple silicon?

Yes, you can install plug-ins or extensions on Mac computers with Apple silicon from the Stock and Marketplace tab in the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Note: Photoshop only supports the new plug-ins (based on UXP, under Plugins in the menu) natively on Mac computers with Apple silicon. If you want to use legacy plug-ins (under Window in the menu), run Photoshop in the Rosetta mode. If you are a developer, check if you can migrate your plug-ins from CEP to UXP.

Does Adobe support apps running using Rosetta 2?

We provide support for the apps listed above. We haven't certified other Adobe apps yet and don't support their use on Mac computers with Apple silicon. For best results, run all other Adobe apps only on operating systems and hardware platforms noted in the system requirements.

How can I transfer Adobe apps from my old computer to my new Mac computer with Apple silicon?

We recommend reinstalling the apps on your new computer instead of migrating them using Migration Assistant. If you still want to use Migration Assistant, deselect the option to migrate applications or uninstall your Adobe apps before migrating.

Already used the Migration Assistant? Run the CC Cleaner Tool to remove Adobe apps and components that were copied to the new computer. Once the applications are entirely removed, you can install your Adobe apps on your new computer.

Will Adobe continue to support Apple devices with Intel processors?

Yes. We have no plans to stop support for Apple devices with Intel processors.

How do I know whether my Mac computer uses a silicon or Intel processor?

Select Apple menu () > About This Mac.  The name of the processor or chip in your computer is displayed next to Chip.

Find which chip your Mac uses
