Remove objects

Select File > Open to browse and select an image.

In the Tools panel, select Remove  tool.

In the Options bar, set the brush slightly larger than the area you want to remove.

Draw a loop around the area you want to remove.

Choose how generative AI is used

Use the Mode option in the Options bar to control how generative AI is applied.

  • Auto (May use generative AI): Photoshop automatically chooses the best processing method.
  • Generative AI is on: Uses generative AI for the edit. You can choose cloud or on-device processing.
  • Generative AI is off: Does not use generative AI for the edit.

Use the generative AI on-device model in Photoshop

When generative AI is enabled, choose where the processing takes place.

  • Cloud: Uses cloud processing.
  • Device: Runs locally on your device.

The on-device model for the Remove tool runs locally on your device after it has been downloaded.

Select Device from the Mode option in the Options bar to use on-device processing. The first time you use on-device processing, it may take longer to run. If your system doesn’t meet the requirements, the Device option will be unavailable.
