Remove reflections in a photo

Learn how to remove reflections in a photo with the AI-powered Reflection Removal tool.

The Reflection Removal tool in Adobe Camera Raw simplifies removing reflections from photos taken through glass windows. This tool eliminates large and prominent window reflections in just a few steps, allowing your image's subject to stand out clearly.

Note:

Currently, the Reflection Removal tool does not support non-raw file formats like JPEG and HEIC. For more details on the technical requirements, best practices, and when to use the Reflection Removal tool, see Removing Window Reflections in Adobe Camera Raw.

Before you begin:

Select   to open Camera Raw Preferences > Technology Previews and select New AI Features and Settings Panel. Restart the application to access the AI-powered features in Camera Raw.

  1. In Adobe Camera Raw, select and open a raw photo with reflections.

  2. In the Remove   panel under Distraction Removal, select the Reflections checkbox.

  3. Camera Raw will automatically detect and remove the window reflections in the photo.

  4. You can adjust the Reflections slider (set to 100 once the reflections are detected and removed).

    Tip:
    • Set the slider to 100 to view the image after removing the reflection.
    • Set the slider to 0 to view the original image with reflection.
    • Set the slider to -100 to view only the reflection in the glass without the original subject.
    • Sometimes, the +100 setting might show the reflection. If so, move the slider to -100 to view the image after removing the reflection.

For the best results, it is recommended that you adjust the reflections first and then edit the image using other features and tools.

This feature is currently available as a Technology Preview. Use the Provide feedback option to share your thoughts directly with the Camera Raw team.
