Pro Import plug-in is missing on macOS

Use the doc to troubleshoot issues with the Pro Import plug-in.

Issue

The Pro Import plug-in does not work on macOS 10.15 in After Effects 17.0.2 and earlier. The plug-in is removed from After Effects on Mac only, as of version 17.0.4. The Pro Import plug-in uses 32-binaries that are not compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. In order to support future releases of macOS, the plug-in is no longer available on macOS 10.14 or 10.13 as of After Effects 17.0.4.
This update removes support for importing AAF, OMF, FCP XML and Motion 4 file formats.

Not:

After Effects on Windows is not affected and version 17.0.4 on Windows includes the Pro Import plug-in.

Workaround

Use any of the following workarounds to troubleshoot the issue:

Use After Effects 17.0.2 or earlier version on macOS 10.14 or earlier, or you can use it on Windows.
Import AAF or FCP XML projects into Premiere Pro, then save the project, and import the .prproj file into After Effects.

Not:

There is no known workaround for OMF or Motion 4 project files on macOS 10.15.
