File conversion FAQ

I receive an error message when I try to open my prior files. What should I do?

An error may occur if there’s a server or connection issue while you try to open a prior file in the new version of Adobe Express. To troubleshoot, try opening and converting the file again after a few minutes.

A red rectangular sign with white text saying "[file title] could not be converted. Please try again later".

I can’t locate one or more of my prior files. What should I do?

Initiate file migration in the updated mobile app

Ensure you have triggered file migration, which is available after updating your mobile app. Your files are migrated at your command, so you can choose the right time to move them—for example, if you have work you want to wrap up before moving everything over. After initiating file migration, select Your stuff at the bottom menu of Home to see your folders and files.

Search both file organizers on desktop

If you still have difficulty finding your files after initiating file migration, we recommend using a desktop web browser to check both locations for your files:

  • Your files in new Adobe Express: All migrated files will be placed here.
  • Prior version of Adobe Express: All non-migrated files will be here.
    • If this website redirects you to new.express.adobe.com, all your files will have already been migrated to the new Adobe Express.
    • Otherwise, you can easily move the files over to the new Adobe Express by selecting the button on the top right corner called Move all folders and files.

For additional support

If you are still missing files, consider performing these checks:

When I open a prior file in the new version of Adobe Express, I get a notification that something in my design has been altered or omitted. Why am I seeing this error?

A notification appears in the Editor when a converted file contains one or more altered or omitted items. This is because the features used in creating the original file are not yet supported or have changed in the new Adobe Express, such as text effects, image effects, or animation (including stickers). These features won’t appear in your converted file and may require additional editing to meet your needs.

Your original design is available in Your stuff, in a folder called [Originals], and can be downloaded as an image.

Note: This doesn't apply to Webpage files or Spark video files.

  1. Navigate to [Originals] folder located in Your stuff.

  2. Hover over the file you want to edit, select the three dots   icon on the top right of the file, then select Edit in prior version.

Select "Edit in prior version" by hovering over the three dots icon

Примечание.

This will open a copy of your file in the prior version of Adobe Express. Edits will be saved to the prior version and will not be available in the new Adobe Express.

You can easily move your files and folders using these steps. Or you can wait until they are automatically moved when the new Adobe Express comes to mobile.

Can I edit my prior Webpages from my desktop?

Webpages made in the prior version of Adobe Express are supported in the new version. You can convert, edit, and publish your prior webpage.

Can I edit my prior Videos from my desktop?

The new version of Adobe Express includes new video editing capabilities, and the prior video format is no longer editable on desktop, as announced on July 10, 2023. You can make videos in the new version of Adobe Express or visit Your stuff to download your prior video files as MP4. Read more about updates to video files from the prior version of Adobe Express.

Why is there a new folder under Your stuff called [Originals]

After a file has been converted successfully, the original source file will be available in Your stuff, in a folder called [Originals]. You can download, keep, delete, or unpublish a previously published file.

As of September 14, you can edit original source files in the new version or the prior version of Adobe Express. You can also download, move, delete, or unpublish a previously published file from the [Originals] folder.
