Interoperability issue after uninstalling a Photoshop version

Starting with version Lightroom Classic version (14.1), if a user has both Photoshop Beta (v26.x) and Photoshop 2025 (v26.x) installed, and then uninstalls either one, an interoperability issue may occur when using Lightroom Classic’s Edit in Photoshop feature. In this case, Lightroom Classic detects the issue and displays a specific dialog to inform the user of the problem

If you continue to Open anyway, certain advance Edit in features such as Open as Smart Object, Open as Smart Object Layers in Photoshop, Merge to Panorama in Photoshop, Merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop, and Open as Layers in Photoshop would be unavailable and greyed out.

Note:

This issue only occurs if both the Photoshop Beta and Photoshop release versions share the same major version. For example, if both Photoshop Beta and the release version are v26.x, the issue may arise. However, if Photoshop Beta is v25.x and the release version is v26.x (or vice versa), this issue does not occur.

Solution

To resolve this issue, reinstall the specified version of Photoshop and restart Lightroom Classic or select Open Anyway to edit with limited capability.
