Lightroom not only empowers you to create beautiful images and express your vision, but it helps you become a better photographer with new ways to get inspired and grow your skills right in the app. You can also browse different categories of inspirational photos by fellow photography members and select them to open and see how the image was edited, step-by-step. You can also save the edits as a preset.

Starting with the October 2023 release of Lightroom for mobile (version 9.0), Discover will be renamed to Community.

Alert:

Starting with the June 2023 release of Lightroom for mobile (version 8.4), the Learn tab and Lightroom Tutorials will no longer be supported in Lightroom for mobile. You can check out Lightroom Academy and enhance your photography skills by accessing educational content, tips, and more.

You can still access the tutorials in Lightroom on desktop.

Edit photos for other photographers and allow them to edit yours

In the Remix tab of the Community feed, view what other photographers are doing and learn the latest editing trends from them. You can also edit photos of others, compare edits, and help learn from each other.

  1. Select Community at the bottom-right of the screen > select the Remixes tab.

  2. To edit a photo, scroll to All Remixable Edits to view the remixable photos. Select the Remix icon or open the image to remix it.

    You can select Original Edit or the Remix icon at the bottom-left side of the screen.

    Tip:

    Select Play Edits to see the edits made by the original author of the image.

  3. Once you've edited the photo, select the ( ) icon. Add a comment about your editing process, and select Post for the user to view your edits. All edits made will appear in the Remixes tab of the user's profile.

  4. To share and allow others to edit your photo, open an edited photo and select the share icon > Share to Community. Allow Enable Remixing toggle button > select the check icon. Fill in the details like Title, Description, and other fields before sharing the photo.

    Note:

    Once you share a Remix to Community, it will automatically appear in the Just Remixed section.  

  5. To view the remixes of a photo, open an image to view all the edits made by different people in one place. Select and view each revision in the lower navigation panel. You can select Play Edits to see the editing controls that authors used. 

    This way, you can learn, compare, and find editing styles that work for you. You can also select the heart icon if you like a photo. 

  6. If you like the edit you saw, select Save as Preset in the right panel to save it for future use. You can access these later from the Presets panel. 

  7. If you wish to remove your photo from Remixes, select the three-dot icon on your photo and select Remove

Community Search and filters 

The in-app Lightroom community is now more exciting than ever! Starting the June 2022 release of Lightroom on Android, you can now search and filter for content in the Community section.

Use the search bar in the Community section to search for photos and more.

The Filter option in Community section lets your filter edits based on:

Remixable - Turn on this toggle if you wish to see only those photos that you can try to edit. 

Download Preset - Turn on this toggle if you want to see presets from the community that can be downloaded. 

Subject matter - Use this to select the Subject Matter topic of your choice. 

Discover inspirational photos

Discover inspirational photos by fellow photography members, browse through different categories of photos, and select them to view how they were edited step-by-step. You can also save the edits as a preset.

Access inspirational photos

  1. Select the Community icon.

  2. The Community section displays the list of inspirational photos. Select an inspirational photo of your choice.

  3. Once you select a photo, a new window displays the output of edits made to the photo.

    Select the information icon at the upper-right corner to view more information about the photo.

  4. Select Play Edits to view how the photo was edited step-by-step. 

Like a photo

  1. To like a photo, do one of the following:

    • Select the   icon at the lower-right corner of the photo in the Community section.
    • Open the photo of your choice from the Community section and select  at the lower-right corner.
  2. If you've accidentally liked a photo, select  again to unlike it.

Save as preset

You can save the exact combination of slider positions in the photo as a preset to apply on other photos. To save edits as preset, do the following:

  1. Open a photo of your choice from the Community section.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Select the information icon in the upper-right corner and select Save As Preset.
    • Select the three-dot icon at the upper-right corner and select Save As Preset.
    • Select the save as preset icon at the lower right corner. 
  3. Specify the Preset Name,  Preset Group, and select confirm icon. By default, the preset is added to the Saved Presets group in the Library view of the Presets panel.

When editing your photos, you can now access and apply the saved preset. For more information, see Work with Presets on your photo.

Open in edit

  1. Open a photo of your choice from the Community section.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Select the information icon at the upper-right corner and select Open In Edit.
    • Select the three-dot icon at the upper-right corner and select Open In Edit.

Share a photo

To share a photo, do the following:

  1. Open a photo of your choice from the Community section.

  2. Select the share icon in the upper-right corner.

Share your edits

You can share your photos and their edits in the Community section to inspire and connect with other Lightroom users. You can also save your edits as preset by other users.

If you wish to share your edits on social media, select the Create edit replay option to create a short video of your edits and share it on social media.

  1. Select a photo whose edit you want to share with other users.

  2. Select the Share icon in the upper-right corner and select Share to Community

  3. In the Share Edit dialog box, enter the following details:

    Title

    Enter the title for your edit.

    Description

    Enter the description that best describes your edit.

    Categories

    Select at least one category to help get your post easily discovered by users. You can select up tp three categories.

    Permissions

    Select Enable Save as Preset to allow other users to save your edits as preset. This option is enabled by default. Select Include location Info to share your location info along with the edits.

    Remixing

    Select Allow Remixing to let other Lightroom users Remix your photo. 

    Copyright

    Displays your profile name. To change your name in copyright, edit your name in your profile.

  4. Select the confirm icon. A shareable link is displayed that you can copy and share with others. 

You can view and edit the details of your shared edits in the Edits tab of your profile.

Note:

The likes you receive on your shared edits are private to you and will not be visible to others.

Follow your favorite photographers

You can choose to follow your favorite photographers in the Lightroom community. The For you tab in the Community section displays photos based on the posts you like, recent editing activity, and people you choose to follow.

  1. Select the Community icon.

  2. Select the For you tab to see inspirational edits. You can also scroll to see FeaturedTrending, and Get inspired posts.

  3. Select the desired inspirational edit to view it.

  4. If you like a photographer's work, you can follow their work. Do one of the following to follow an author:

    • Navigate to the post you like, select the author's name, and then select Follow. In Community, you can view the edits from the people you follow in the Following tab.
    • Select the photo you like and select the author's avatar to follow them. 
    Note:

    The photographers that you follow can be viewed by other Lightroom users.

Block or unblock photographers

  1. Select the Community icon.

  2. Select the author's thumbnail in a post to open the author's profile.

  3. Select the three-dot icon and the Block option in the author's profile.

    You cannot view their profile and posts when you block an author. The blocked person will also be unable to view your profile or posts. Blocked authors are not notified when you block them.

  4. To unblock someone, visit your profile, select Blocked list from the three-dot menu and then unblock an author.

Find Remixes and posts from author's profiles

When you select an author's profile in Lightroom, you can view their Edits, Remixes, Followers, and who they are Following, all in one place. 

  1. Select the Community icon and navigate to a photo of your choice. 

  2. In the thumbnail, select the author's name.

  3. Select one of the following tabs:

    Edits

    Find edits that the author has created.

    Remixes

    View the Remixes created by the author.

    About

    View details about the author.

    Following

    Find users whom the author is following.

    Followers

    Find who all are following the author.

    Note:

    The options will change depending on the author. For instance, if an author has not shared any Remix photo, you'll not see the Remixes tab in their profile.
