Learn about the Adobe XD compatibility with macOS Big Sur (version 11) and Apple silicon.
With the version 42 onwards, XD runs natively on Apple computers with the Apple silicon M1 chip. This version performs up to 80% faster on key workflows than the similarly configured previous generation systems.
Known issues
Workaround: Upgrade to macOS 11.3.1.
Is XD compatible with macOS Big Sur?
Yes, XD versions starting with XD 34.0.12 work on macOS Big Sur (version 11).
Are legacy versions compatible?
No. XD versions previous to XD 34.0.12 were not designed or tested to work on macOS Big Sur (version 11).
Older versions use 32-bit licensing components and installers. So, you cannot install, uninstall, or activate them after upgrading to macOS Big Sur.
If you have already upgraded to macOS Big Sur, use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove older versions.
Does XD run in Apple silicon Rosetta 2 emulation mode?
Yes. XD versions starting with XD 35.0.12.4 can run in the Rosetta 2 emulation mode on Apple devices with Apple silicon (M1 processors). See the known issues below.
