Upload your fonts to Creative Cloud

Access your own fonts across Adobe apps and other desktop applications (such as Microsoft Office) and then use them in your creative designs and projects.

Before you begin

When adding your font files, ensure that:

  • The file size doesn't exceed 512 MB.
  • The font is either a TrueType (.ttf) font or an OpenType® (.otf) font.
  • You have the rights and licenses to use the uploaded fonts.

To learn more about how Creative Cloud manages the fonts you upload, see Font usage and rights.

Font usage and rights

Make sure to read and understand the end user license agreement (EULA) that describes the permitted rights and uses for your font, and to avoid any feature or workflow that violates your EULA — or abstain from using this feature entirely. To help you decide, here are some of the ways that fonts are managed when they are added to Creative Cloud with this feature.

When you add a font to Creative Cloud, Adobe will not modify it, but we will store the font in Creative Cloud, and may make and distribute copies for your use on computers and other devices where you log in with your Adobe ID. Adobe will not distribute or make your font available to any other user.

Through Creative Cloud, you’ll be able to select your font from the Fonts menu in Adobe applications and services for desktop publishing — as if you had installed the font yourself. As with any font you install, your font EULA may prohibit some uses. For example:

  • Embedding the font in a PDF or an ebook,
  • Using the font in work meant to be distributed for commercial purposes, or
  • Copying the fonts for storage or distribution with the Package feature.

Ensure that your use of any Adobe features complies with your EULA. If you are unsure if your EULA permits adding a font to Creative Cloud and its use through this feature, contact the foundry, designer, or reseller from whom you purchased your EULA.

Frequently asked questions

You can upload unlimited number of font files to your account. You can add up to 20 font files per upload.

Creative Cloud subscriptions with access to the Adobe Fonts full library can use this Creative Cloud service. The feature is not available to free users, Education users whose subscriptions don't include the full Adobe Fonts library, and Enterprise users.

Currently, adding fonts to Creative Cloud will give you access to your fonts on desktop devices only when you sign in to the Creative Cloud desktop app. This feature will be available to Creative Cloud mobile apps in a future update.

If you upload fonts to Creative Cloud and later cancel your subscription, the locally installed font files remain available on your desktop devices. However, you will no longer be able to manage your uploaded fonts from the Creative Cloud desktop app.

Desktop font files are automatically installed in your computer’s local font directory:

  • Windows 7 and later: Windows > Fonts
  • Mac OS X and later: System > Library > Fonts

You might not be able to add a font to Creative Cloud for various reasons. It's likely that you're trying to add:

  • Fonts that are already installed on your device.
  • Fonts that already exist in the Adobe Fonts library.
  • Fonts that are not appropriately licensed and cannot pass our validation tests.

Make sure to use the correct font file format and verify that your font is appropriately licensed. You can also convert your font to a supported file format.

If you have recently moved to Teams and see Custom Fonts instead of Upload Fonts to Creative Cloud in your Creative Cloud desktop app, wait for 24 hours and then try adding your fonts. If you still don't see Upload Fonts to Creative Cloud after 24 hours, relaunch the Creative Cloud desktop app with these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Windows: Ctrl+Alt+R
  • macOS: Command+Option+R
