What permissions are required by the Adobe Acrobat extension?

The extension requires the following permissions:

  • Tabs: Used to interact with the browser's tab system.
  • Downloads: Used to manage web-content downloads.
  • Context menus: Allows the extension to add items to the context menu in Chrome.
  • Native messaging: Allows the extension to exchange messages with cooperating native applications on the user's devices.
  • Host permissions("http://", "https://"): Allows extension functionality on all web pages with "http" and "https" schemes.

What user data is handled by the Adobe Acrobat extension to provide its functionalities?

To provide its complete features, the extension sends data specific to website content and resources to a native application installed on the user's device and doesn't send data to any Adobe server or cloud.

How will Adobe use the information?

How is my privacy protected?

Since no personally identifiable information is collected, the data will not be meaningful to anyone outside Adobe.

When you enabled our extension, you were prompted to grant various permissions, such as seeing URLs you navigate to. The permissions are required to allow the extension to convert HTML content to PDF. However, the URL information is not sent back to Adobe.

How does it work?

You choose to participate and allow Adobe to send usage data, associated with an anonymous user ID from your computer to Adobe.

How do I opt-out?

  1. Right-click on the Adobe Acrobat button on the Chrome toolbar.
  2. Click Options.
  3. Clear the To improve product features... checkbox and click Save.

Will I receive spam if I participate in the program?

You will not receive emails from Adobe regarding this program, regardless of whether you participate. Also, we do not collect personally identifiable information that can help identify you or contact you.

Can I see the data that is collected before it is sent to Adobe?

No, the information cannot be displayed. This program is designed to work for millions of users without affecting their product use, so the data is sent automatically. The data is also encoded so that it can be processed efficiently.

How long does the program last?

Information is collected as long as you use the product version for which you have agreed to participate or until you decide to stop participating in the program.
