In FrameMaker, a project gives a single-window view of the resources within your Help system. The project management feature allows you to create projects and manage all resources related to a project from a single place. You can create a project and add all resources (such as files and folders) related to that project from different locations on your computer. You can also add resources by easily dragging files from Windows Explorer and dropping them into the project window.
The project management feature allows you to perform the following tasks with ease and help you to enhance your productivity:
Select File > New > Project.
Alternatively, press Esc p r n.
Do the following:
Click OK.
By default, a new folder with the name of the project gets created at the location that you selected to create the project.
Once you have created a project, you need to add resources to your project. Typically, you would have stored all your project-related files at different places on your computer. You can add all those locations to your project to get a complete view of all the project resources.
In the project window, click Add Location icon.
Browse to and select the location where your project resources are available.
By default, the location name is assigned the name of the destination folder. You can choose to specify a different name for the location.
(Optional) Specify a name for the location.
Click OK.
The location gets added to your project. In the project window, you can see all resources available in the location that you added.
You can also add a location by dragging the required folder from Windows Explorer into the project window.
Once you have made the required changes to your project, click Save.
Right-click the resource location that you want to remove.
From the context menu, select Remove.
Alternatively, press Esc p r d.
The location is removed from your project. However, it is not deleted from your file system.
Right-click a project resource (location, folder, or file) to perform the additional operations from the context menu.
The Edit option opens the selected file for editing. If the file is a valid FrameMaker file, it is opened for editing in FrameMaker. If FrameMaker doesn't recognize the file, it is opened in the associated program for editing.
The Explore option opens the parent folder of the selected resource in Windows Explorer.
The Rename option renames the selected resource in the project.
The Delete option removes the selected location or deletes the selected file from the project.
