Updates to Creative Cloud Shared Device Access for Higher Education

Adobe Express will no longer be included with Creative Cloud Shared Device Access for Higher Education.

Beginning in September 2023, we are removing Adobe Express as an included service in the Creative Cloud Shared Device Access for Higher Education (SDA) product profile. Students with a named user license of Creative Cloud All Apps or Adobe Express for Higher Education will still have access to Adobe Express.

What is SDA?

SDA is a product profile available in Admin Console in which students with a Federated ID are entitled to use certain Adobe services and sign in to the Creative Cloud desktop applications installed on lab and library computers via the Shared Device License.

What is changing to Adobe Express in SDA?

We are removing the service entitlement to Adobe Express from the SDA product profile. This means students that don't have a named-user license for the Creative Cloud All Apps plan, or Adobe Express for Higher Education will no longer have access to the Adobe Express web or mobile app using their Federated ID. Adobe Express doesn't have a desktop application and therefore will no longer be included in Shared Device Licensing.

Who will this change affect?

This change does not impact students with a named user license (NUL) for the Creative Cloud All Apps plan or the Adobe Express for Higher Education stand-alone product.

Students that don't have a named user license for Adobe Express for Higher Education or Creative Cloud All Apps will no longer be able to log into Adobe Express in September 2023. Any Adobe Express files created using the student’s Federated ID won't be deleted along with this change in the SDA entitlement but won't be accessible unless the student is provisioned with a named-user license of Creative Cloud All Apps or the stand-alone Adobe Express for Higher Education product using the student’s existing institution-provided email and ID type.

How can students continue to have access to their Adobe Express?

If the institution provides a named-user license for the Creative Cloud All Apps plan or Adobe Express for Higher Education to students, there will be no disruption to accessing Adobe Express, and no action will be needed by the student.

Adobe Express allows users to share their files. If students want to continue working with their Adobe Express content, they can subscribe to their own Adobe Express account (free or paid version) using a personal Adobe ID and share their existing files with their new account prior to the removal of Adobe Express from SDA. Students can sign up for a personal account with Adobe Express.

Note:

Action by students to share existing Express files to a personal account must be taken prior to the removal of Adobe Express from SDA in September 2023.

What should I communicate to students?

For students who won't have a named-user license of Creative Cloud All Apps or Adobe Express, we recommend that they are notified as early as possible that if they want access to their Adobe Express files after Adobe Express is removed from SDA 2023, they must create a free personal Adobe Express account and transfer their Adobe Express files to this personal account.

Adobe Express makes it easy for students to transfer files between accounts. Learn more.
