Enable the image format option for Illustrator assets

Learn how to enable the image format option to resample Illustrator assets for Dreamweaver.

When you place Illustrator assets from Creative Cloud Libraries into Dreamweaver, the Image Format option is disabled. This does not allow you to convert your Illustrator assets into any of the supported formats such as PNG 32/PNG 24/PNG 8/JPEG.

However, Dreamweaver has discontinued the functionality to extract SVG files from Illustrator assets effective from November 16, 2021.  As a workaround, follow these steps to enable the Image Format option in the Resampling dialog box to convert Illustrator assets to the supported formats:

Windows

  1. Quit Dreamweaver.

  2. To open Registry Editor:

    1. Click Start > Run
    2. Type regedit in the Run dialog text box.
    3. Click OK.
  3. In the left panel of the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Dreamweaver [version number]\Feature Management

  4. Set the value of AIAssetToSVGConversion to FALSE. 

  5. Launch Dreamweaver, place the Illustrator assets and convert them to supported formats.

macOS

  1. Quit Dreamweaver.

  2. In the Finder, navigate to the location /[user]/Library/Preferences/ and open Adobe Dreamweaver [version number] Prefs file in any Text editor.

  3. In the Preferences file, set the value of aiassettosvgconversion to FALSE.

  4. Save the Preferences file.

  5. Launch Dreamweaver, place the Illustrator assets and convert them to supported formats.
