Is there a way in Captivate to transition from Rollover objects to HTML5?

Rollover objects are interactive objects that are originally hidden and display only when you roll over a specific area of the slide. This makes the Rollover objects difficult to use on touch-enabled devices. That is why the Rollover objects are not supported in HTML5. Since Flash has been deprecated, the Rollover objects will cease to work in your projects.

Therefore, it becomes important to transition these Rollover objects to HTML5, so that you can use them again. Even in the HTML5 tracker, these objects will be labeled as Unsupported.

One alternative is to use a combination of shapes and states, as listed below. The steps are more of a workaround and must not be construed as formalized.

  1. Insert a shape on a slide. Set its properties to 0% opacity and a stroke of width 0.

  2. Position the shape over an image that you want to roll over. The intent is to use a state instead of a Rollover caption.

  3. Convert the shape into an interactive button. (Use as Button

  4. Launch the States panel and add a RollOver state to the object. The RollOver state is an in-built state.

  5. Insert a text caption for the RollOver state.

As you preview the project, the text caption will appear when you roll lover the shape.

The above steps should get you started. However, for a more comprehensible procedure, see the community post, Transitioning from Rollover Objects to HTML5.
