Go to the location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\<Acrobat Version>\Acrobat\plug_ins\PaperCapture\iDRS15
For example, for Acrobat, go to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat\Acrobat\plug_ins\PaperCapture\iDRS15
When you attempt to apply Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on a scanned page or an image, Acrobat may fail to access the OCR service due to low system memory, incomplete/corrupted files, unsupported formats, outdated software, or inadequate resources. Acrobat displays the following error: "Acrobat could not access the recognition service because: Unable to locate the paper capture recognition service."
To fix the error, try the following solutions in the order they appear below.
Go to the location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\<Acrobat Version>\Acrobat\plug_ins\PaperCapture\iDRS15
For example, for Acrobat, go to:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat\Acrobat\plug_ins\PaperCapture\iDRS15
Copy all the files in the folder.
Go to the following locations and paste the copied files:
Try running OCR using the Scan & OCR tool in Acrobat.
If Acrobat crashes during OCR even after following the above steps, delete the old files from the folders specified in Step 3. If the crash stops but the OCR issue remains, repeat the steps in solution 1.
You can sometimes resolve the error by uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat.
