Convert photo to video using Quick actions

Learn how to create dynamic AI-generated videos from photos.

Transform a photo into a dynamic video with Animate in Quick actions. Using generative AI powered by the Google Veo 3.1 model, Lightroom on mobile sends your selected image to the video generation service, where motion and visual effects are applied based on your selected settings. Once the video is generated, it is automatically returned to Lightroom, ready for review, editing, share, and export.

Animate is available as an Early access feature and is enabled by default in Lightroom on mobile.

Select a photo to open it in Detail view.

Select Actions > Animate .

In the Animate photo panel, adjust the output settings.

Select Generate video.

Wait for Lightroom to generate the video and automatically import it into your library.

Select the Zoom in icon to view your generated video full screen.

Select the Share button to share the generated video or export it to your device.

Select the Edit video button to further enhance the video with Lightroom editing tools, such as applying presets, trimming the video, and adjusting light and color.

Video generation settings

When creating a video from a photo, you can customize the output by adjusting the available video generation settings. These settings determine the video’s duration, orientation, resolution, camera movement, visual style, and playback speed.

Duration	Specifies the length of the generated video. Longer durations consume more generative credits.	4 seconds 6 seconds 8 seconds
Aspect ratio	Determines the orientation of the generated video. By default, the aspect ratio is automatically selected based on the dimensions of the source image but can be changed before generating the video.	Portrait (9:16): Optimized for vertical viewing. Landscape (16:9): Optimized for widescreen viewing.
Resolution	Controls the output quality of the generated video. Higher resolutions provide more detail but may result in larger file sizes.	1080 pixels 720 pixels
Camera motion	Defines how motion is applied to the generated video.	Zoom in: Gradually moves closer to the subject. Zoom out: Gradually moves away from the subject. Slow pan: Creates a smooth horizontal movement across the scene. Focus shift: Simulates shifting focus between areas of the image.
Look	Applies a predefined visual style to the generated video.	Natural: Preserves realistic colors and tones. Golden hour: Adds warm, sunset-inspired lighting. Vibrant pop: Enhances color saturation and contrast. Faded film: Creates a soft, cinematic film appearance. Black & White: Converts the video to monochrome. Dark and moody: Applies deeper shadows and a dramatic atmosphere.
Speed	Controls the pace of motion in the generated video.	Slow: Creates gentle and gradual movement. Natural: Applies balanced motion for a realistic effect. Fast: Increases the speed of movement for a more dynamic result.

Select a photo to open it in Detail view.

In the Photo to Video panel, adjust the output setting.

Select Generate video.

Wait for Lightroom to generate the video and automatically import it into your library.

Select the Zoom in icon to view your generated video full screen.

Tip

This option is available only with a Lightroom subscription, otherwise, select Done.

Note

Video generation uses generative credits. Credit consumption varies by duration: 40 credits for 4 seconds, 60 credits for 6 seconds, and 80 credits for 8 seconds. If you cancel video generation before it completes, the credits used for the generation request are still deducted and are not refunded.
