Default room templates for Adobe Connect 12.5

Learn how to use default templates to define the layout of various pods and components.

With Adobe Connect 12.5, we have new default templates to take advantage of features such as Quiz pod (in training template) and Chat panel (layout independent). The following sections describe the various layouts in the three new templates.

Note:

Default Meeting template

This default template is designed for a meeting. You can use the default meeting room template or customize it according to requirements.

Default meeting template

Video Layout: This layout is designed to show the attendees' video feed from their cameras if they have shared it. Explore the other views of the Video Pod from the menu and choose the view that suits your needs anytime during the meeting.

Sharing Layout: This layout enables an attendee to share content. This could be a document, image, or slide deck uploaded to the Share pod before or during the meeting. You can share the whole desktop, a specific application window, or even a custom pod.

Discussion Layout: This layout is convenient for any free-flowing discussion. The video pod displays all participants who share their videos. Two discussion pods are added to capture the Pros and Cons of anything that may be discussed. In addition, there is a Notes and Action Items pod as well.

Brainstorming Layout: This is designed to help participants use a common whiteboard they can all write or draw on collaboratively. In a large meeting, where different groups of attendees are required to focus their brainstorming on a specific focus area, the host can initiate a breakout so that each group can collaborate within their breakout room.

This default template is designed for a webinar. You can use the default meeting event template or customize it according to requirements.

Lobby Layout: The webinar delivery team is often logged in well before the session, and some registered guests and participants are also likely to join ahead of time. Once the hosts admit the audience into the room, they can engage in this lobby layout. The Webinar Details Share Pod can display an image that shares session details like topic, speaker, duration, etc. The Teaser Video pod can keep the audience engaged in some content. This could be any content supported by Adobe Connect, not just video.

Introduction Layout: Once there is a quorum, the webinar can be started. This would be a good time for the Emcee, Host, or Presenter to share their video, welcome everyone, and talk about any housekeeping items the audience needs to know or suggest how they can interact during the webinar. This will also be the time to let users know about any terms and conditions of participation and start the recording as needed.

Presentation Layout: The content delivery will start from this layout. It's recommended that the presentation deck or document to be used for presentation is uploaded before the session. Since the Chat Panel is assumed to be on, the moderated Q&A pod is here.

Screen Share Layout: This is similar to the presentation layout. There is a separate layout to allow switching to screen sharing without stopping sharing the presentation in the previous layout. Once screen sharing is completed, the host can switch back to the Presentation layout and continue from there.

Wrap Up Layout: Just before concluding the session, this layout helps to share additional resources, such as the presentation deck, with the audience. The Web Links pod can also be employed to share Call To Action links, such as signing up for a newsletter, registering for an upcoming webinar, scheduling a follow-up meeting, and more. In addition, it's pre-populated with a couple of survey questions generally asked at the end of a webinar. You can use or customize them to align with your specific requirements.

Default training and virtual classroom template

This is designed for either a live training session or a virtual classroom session. It's assumed that the Chat Panel will be used in rooms created using this template. When enabled, the Chat Panel is available across all layouts but will not be included in the video recording. However, the Chat pods added in specific layouts will be part of the video recording and are ideal for topic-focused discussions.

Default training template

Introduction Layout:  This layout is a single video pod and assumes that the instructor, presenter, or host who will open the session will share their webcam. You can greet the class and set the context for this session from this layout. Use the Notes pod at the top-right as learning objectives for this session, or repurpose this for something appropriate, like Code of Conduct, Housekeeping Items, etc. You can find the Attendees pod at the bottom-right that helps you manage the participants in your class.

Presentation Layout: The content delivery will start from this layout. It's recommended that the presentation deck or document to be used for presentation is uploaded before the session. Since the Chat Panel is assumed to be on, the moderated Q&A pod is here.

Discussion Layout: There are multiple ways to engage your class and become active contributors in the learning process beyond being passive content consumers. This layout introduces two discussion pods for the class to share their perspectives on the advantages and disadvantages of a specific topic. Customize this layout to orient the pod titles to your context and add or remove discussion pods as needed. You may also consider adding other pods to increase participation and boost engagement.

Assessment Layout: This layout has just one power-packed pod, which is Quiz pod, that facilitates you to do live assessments during your session. If you plan to incorporate an assessment in your session, plan to populate the quiz prior, and if you don't intend to use this, you can delete this layout in your room or skip it during a class.

Breakout Layout: The host can initiate breakouts whenever needed, creating breakout rooms with the currently selected layout. This layout is carefully designed, assuming a brainstorming breakout where each group of students will use a whiteboard to collaborate within themselves during the breakout.

Wrap Up Layout: Just before concluding the session, use this layout to share additional resources like the presentation deck with the audience. The Web Links pod can also be used to share Call-To-Action links like signing up for a newsletter, registering for an upcoming webinar, scheduling a follow-up meeting, etc. Additionally, it's pre-populated with a survey question typically asked at the end of a training session.
