Common questions

What is Generate Image?

Generate image is a type of generative AI technology that lets you create images with nothing more than a few words. The AI engine receives each word in a text description as an instruction, and it builds the image based on the combination of words and their relationships to one another.

How does the Generate Image feature work?

Generate Image AI generators work like other types of artificial intelligence, using machine learning models and huge datasets to produce their results. In other words, AI technology learns from thousands of pictures. It creates images by applying what it has learned to the everyday language you enter in the prompt field. The current Firefly generative AI model is trained on a dataset of Adobe Stock, openly licensed work, and public domain content where copyright has expired.

How do I use the feature?

Using Acrobat desktop, select Generate Image from the Edit panel under Add Content. Describe what you want to view in the textbox, and four images will be generated. After you adjust your image, select Apply to add the image to your document.

Who can access the feature?

The Edit Image feature is available to all existing and new customers of Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Acrobat Standard individual subscriptions and Acrobat Pro Teams (Direct & VIP) subscriptions. It isn't available to Acrobat Classic subscribers currently. The feature is available for trial users on desktop, but not for trial users on the web.

Where are my images stored?

Your images are temporarily uploaded to Adobe cloud storage and processed in Adobe Express. Adobe does not store your images permanently. Your image will be deleted from Adobe cloud storage within 12 hours.

Do I get Adobe Stock, Firefly credits, or extra storage with the offer?

If you're an Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Acrobat Standard individual subscriber, you'll automatically be given 250 Firefly credits per month for a limited time to try the feature.

If you're an Adobe Acrobat Pro for Teams subscriber, you will automatically be given 25 Firefly generative credits per month to try the feature. You won't receive extra Adobe Stock credits, Firefly generative credits, or extra storage outside what is offered with the Adobe Express free version.
